Discover Taylor's Place 2

Tucked away along the scenic stretch of Highway 57, Taylor's Place 2 at 6510 TN-57, Counce, TN 38326, United States, feels like that kind of small-town gem you stumble upon once and never forget. The aroma hits before you even walk through the door-a mix of sizzling burgers, fresh catfish, and something sweet baking in the back. The atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly chatter from regulars who clearly treat this place like their second home. It’s the sort of diner where time slows down, and you can actually taste the heart that goes into every plate.

The first time I visited, it was after a long day at Pickwick Lake. A friend recommended stopping by, saying the portions were generous and the service unmatched. He wasn’t wrong. The menu read like a love letter to Southern comfort food-crispy fried chicken, thick-cut fries, homemade coleslaw, and hearty breakfast platters that locals swear by. What struck me most wasn’t just the food, but the way every dish seemed made with purpose. You could tell the cooks knew their craft, not from culinary school certificates, but from decades of hands-on experience in a Southern kitchen.

The breakfast crowd is its own story. Locals come early, often before sunrise, for steaming mugs of coffee and stacks of golden pancakes topped with butter that melts just right. There’s something grounding about seeing a mix of travelers, fishermen, and families all sharing the same space, nodding to each other like old friends. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, 70% of diners say service and atmosphere matter as much as food quality, and Taylor’s Place 2 nails that balance perfectly. The staff here remember faces and preferences-like how one customer takes her coffee half sweet, or which booth a regular prefers near the window.

From a culinary perspective, the success of spots like this lies in their commitment to fresh ingredients and traditional methods. The catfish, for instance, is sourced locally and fried in a well-seasoned cast iron skillet, giving it that crisp, flavorful crust you can’t replicate in chain restaurants. Food experts like Andrew Zimmern often talk about how true Southern food is defined by technique more than ingredients-how seasoning, patience, and experience turn simple recipes into unforgettable meals. Taylor’s embodies that philosophy completely.

Reviews across travel and dining sites reflect that authenticity. Many mention the homey décor, the friendly banter between waitstaff and guests, and that sense of belonging often lost in modern dining. A TripAdvisor comment I remember said it best: “This place feels like eating at your grandma’s, only with more options.” It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience of connection-between food, people, and a shared love for good company.

The restaurant’s location also adds to its charm. Counce may be a small town, but it’s right near popular recreational spots, making it a convenient stop for visitors exploring the Tennessee countryside. The accessibility and welcoming nature of Taylor’s make it a go-to not just for locals but for travelers seeking authenticity. There’s something satisfying about discovering a place where the pace is slower, the smiles are genuine, and the food speaks for itself.

Even during busier weekends, the consistency doesn’t falter. You might wait a little longer for a table, but that’s part of the rhythm here-slow dining, real conversations, and food worth the anticipation. The kitchen operates like a well-oiled machine, every plate coming out hot, hearty, and comforting.

It’s easy to see why so many people keep coming back. Taylor’s Place 2 isn’t about flashy trends or culinary gimmicks. It’s about connection, craft, and community. Whether you’re dropping by for a country breakfast, a hearty lunch, or just a slice of homemade pie, it feels like coming home-every single time.

  • The wings are on point! And don't think they're little wings...they're drumsticks, so choose accordingly. The only issue was that I asked for house sauce and got honey BBQ and now I have to go back and get the house sauce. We'll play Taylor...well played.

  • I had a burger and home fries and they were too notch. My wife loved the fish platter, the kids said theirs was really good. Definitely would eat here again. Service and atmosphere were great. We also agreed the slaw was excellent too. One of the few places we all agreed was good.
